A squabble has erupted over a city of Anchorage newsletter article in October that said because of the 2012 Kentucky constitutional “right to hunt” amendment it is legal for people to hunt deer in that leafy Jefferson County community if they usebows and arrows, follow hunting regulationsand avoid trespassing. And the city attorney has responded by seeking clarification from the Kentucky attorney general whether municipalities can ban the shooting of hunting arrows just as some, like Anchorage, generally ban the firing of guns.The outcome has potential statewide implications for an amendment that has not yet been tested in a court of law.”There are a number of homeowners who believe any form of hunting within the Anchorage city confines would create a dangerous environment for all the citizenry and their pets,” Miller’s petition said. “If you are in agreement that hunting with firearms and any form of projectile should be disallowed within the city limits of Anchorage, KY, please sign this petition.”Within the last couple of weeks, itwas signed my more than 700 people, some from as far away as France and Singapore, but others much closer in.One Anchorage homeowner described in the petition a recent close call with an arrow: “Earlier this summer, we had an incident where someone shot a hunting arrow at a deer.
